Lillian Elizabeth “Ma” Green was a long-serving faculty member of the L.A. College of Anatomy, Embalming, and Sanitation, which became the California College of Mortuary Science, and is now known as Cypress College. She served as President and Vice President of the first two institutions, respectively. She also helped found the California Embalmers Association as their first Vice President. Despite her years of teaching and service, there are no articles or books honoring her life.; Dejah Rubel, a librarian at Ferris State University with experience in archival research and oral history, would like to correct that omission. Former students and colleagues of “Ma” Green are becoming harder to locate as time passes. If you have news articles, biographies, letters, photographs, documents, etc. or if you are willing to reminisce about “Ma” Green in an oral history interview, please contact Dejah Rubel at or at 517-672-8139.; If you did not know “Ma” Green personally, but you know a graduate of the California College of Mortuary Science from 1943-1966, please share this solicitation with them.
