What is the ICCFA Credit Exchange Plan?

This exchange plan consists of cemeteries that wish to offer their pre-need consumers at no charge a dollar-for-dollar credit exchange with other member cemeteries in the plan. Credit exchanges include burial lots, mausoleum and columbarium space, and related products and services.

Who is eligible for a transfer of credit?

Any consumer who has paid in full for their cemetery property and has moved 75 miles or more from the original cemetery is eligible for a transfer of credit to another credit exchange plan participating cemetery.

How does the plan work?

The consumer who is eligible for a transfer is given full credit for the amount paid for their original purchase (up to the maximum applicable limit). The original cemetery is to submit 50% of the transferred credit, along with the deeds, certificates, any other documents of ownership, to the new cemetery. Once the new cemetery receives the partial credit and documents, then the new cemetery is to provide a credit for the remaining 50% on behalf of the consumer to give the consumer a credit of 100% of their original purchase. If the cost of the consumer’s new selection at the new cemetery exceeds the amount of transferrable credit, the consumer is responsible to pay the difference.

There are two forms needed to initiate and complete a transfer. These forms are sent to participating cemeteries when joining the plan. If you need an additional copy of these forms, you can contact Jason Brown at Jason@iccfa.com.

Terms & Conditions

Credit can only be transferred to a cemetery actively participating in the plan. The dollar-for-dollar credit for mausoleum crypts is up to the maximum of $6,000 per transaction, and up to $3,500 for all other cemetery property. These limits are reviewed by the ICCFA Board of Directors and adjusted accordingly in its sole discretion. Only pre-paid burial lots, mausoleum and columbarium space, and related products and services, are eligible for transfer. Funeral-related merchandise and services, including cremation, are not eligible for transfer. Personalized cemetery merchandise can’t be transferred, unless the merchandise is acceptable at the new cemetery. Cash refunds aren’t available to consumers in the Credit Exchange Plan.
