The ICCFA Veterans Committee is proud to announce that Young’s Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center of Temple, Texas, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Scott R. Sells Excellence Award.
Established to honor the legacy of past ICCFA President Scott R. Sells, CCFE, this distinguished award recognizes extraordinary commitment within the deathcare profession to supporting active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their families. Scott Sells’ life and leadership were defined by unwavering devotion to our nation’s service members and Gold Star Families. The award bearing his name celebrates organizations that carry that same spirit of service forward.
Young’s Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center exemplifies that mission.
Founded in 2018 by U.S. Army Combat Military Police Officer and veteran Sabrina N. Young, CFSP, the funeral home was built on a deep, personal understanding of military sacrifice. Having completed two tours in Iraq, Sabrina brings lived experience to her work, ensuring that veterans and their families are honored with dignity, respect, and comprehensive support.
Under her leadership, Young’s Daughters has created an unmatched continuum of care for the military community. As a Service Officer and Lifetime Member of VFW Post #1820, Sabrina personally assists families in navigating VA benefits, securing burial reimbursements, coordinating military honors, and ensuring every entitled recognition is received.
Beyond funeral services, the organization has established meaningful, ongoing initiatives that keep veterans’ legacies visible and honored throughout the year. From its annual Presidential Banquet, where families are formally presented with Presidential Memorial Certificates, to Veterans Day ceremonies, Memorial Day observances, and the “Walk to Remember” candlelight event, Young’s Daughters has woven veteran recognition into the fabric of the community.
The funeral home’s VA Marker Initiative has also ensured that unmarked veteran graves across Bell County now receive proper military recognition, preserving the legacy of service members dating back generations.
Most notably, Young’s Daughters extends care far beyond the funeral through its integrated Bereavement Center, providing sustained grief support for families navigating life after loss. This veteran-centered approach reflects the very values Scott R. Sells championed: service, remembrance, leadership, and lasting impact.
The award will be presented during the ICCFA Annual Board Report & Awards at the 2026 ICCFA Experience in Fort Worth, Texas, April 29–May 1, 2026.
Please join us in congratulating Young’s Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center for its extraordinary dedication to honoring and serving those who have served our nation.
