SUMMARY:Understanding the Millennial Worker and How They Can Improve Your Business
DESCRIPTION:Join us on August 17\, 2023\, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM EDT\, for the next presenter in the ICCFA Webinar Series\, Antonio Green from the James H. Cole Home for Funerals. \nThe typical funeral home in the United States is owned and/or operated by an individual of the Baby Boomer or early Generation X age range. The up-and-coming Millennial generation\, which will soon become the successors in these businesses\, act and operate very differently. Nevertheless\, they are changing how businesses operate and carving new paths in almost every industry\, including deathcare. Nowadays\, it’s rare to have a conversation with funeral home owners without them bringing up how difficult it is “working with Millennials”. This session will help you understand why Millennials are so different than previous generations \, provide ideas on how to motivate these employees\, and prove how big of an asset they can be to the business. \nAntonio Green is a fourth-generation funeral director at his family’s firm\, James H. Cole Home for Funerals. Antonio has been a licensed mortician for over 15 years. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University\, Antonio decided to pursue his passion of helping others in their greatest time of need and continue his family’s legacy of funeral service by attending the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.   \nIn 2021\, Antonio took on the task of becoming a published author. His book “Talk to Me -Understanding the Millennial Mindset” was written to help people better understand the Millennial generation\, specifically small business owners. \nClick here to register

SUMMARY:10 First Steps to Adding Cremation to Your Business Plan
DESCRIPTION:Join us on February 16\, 2023 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM EST for the next presenter in the ICCFA Webinar Series\, Tom Krowl\, Vice President of Marketing at Cremation Systems. \nAs we have seen in our industry\, cremation rates are increasing. A crematory is now becoming a tool of the trade like embalming for funeral directors. This webinar will help funeral directors and others evaluate the basic economics of owning and operating their own crematory and the steps to accomplishing the goal. \nSpecial emphasis is placed on the planning and zoning of a crematory. Zoning is the most difficult aspect of the project and must be confirmed in writing before investing in cremation. Site evaluation\, air permitting\, engineering\, utility requirements and floorplan designs are academic in nature\, zoning can be emotional and stressful. \nAdding cremation to your funeral home does not have to be painful if you plan and execute carefully. The benefits of owning your own crematory can generate increased earnings and sales and marketing leverage. \nTom Krowl is the Vice President of Marketing for Cremation Systems a Division of Armil CFS. He has a B.S. degree in Construction Engineering from Syracuse University and the State University of New York.  He has spent 40 years working in the Building Materials\, Fire Testing\, and High Temperature Insulating Materials Industries.  The past 15 years have been focused on new cremation equipment technology and installation techniques.  He currently teaches the Certified Crematory Operator class for the Cremation Association of North America. His depth of knowledge of construction\, environmental impact\, and zoning regulations benefit current crematory operators and those looking to enter cremation.  \nClick here to register

SUMMARY:Safety in Your Cemetery
DESCRIPTION:Join us on May 19\, 2022\, from 2:00-3:00 PM EDT for the next presenter in the ICCFA webinar series\, Gino Merendino. Gino is the Chief Gardener at Merendino Cemetery Care and Dean of the ICCFA University Land College. \nCompliance with OSHA is not enough. Keeping your cemetery staff healthy and safe from injury requires the right tools to mitigate the dangers unique to cemeteries in a post COVID-19 world. \nIn this webinar “Safety in Your Cemetery\,” Gino explains how safety programs fail when they are designed to just check off the boxes for compliance purposes rather than engage the hearts of employees. Safety is attainable when workers can identify the risks and pressures of getting sick or injured and realize how those circumstances can impact their coworkers and loved ones. When employees trust their employers\, they help identify safety hazards while collaborating with management to reduce injuries and fines. \nA good safety program will reduce turnover as it shows your employees that you care about them and their families. If you have 1 or 100 employees\, you do not want to miss this webinar. \nGino Merendino is the Chief Gardener for Merendino Cemetery Care. He is passionate about leading the profession through education. He is the Vice President and a trustee of the International Cemetery Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) Education Foundation and the Dean of the Land College for the ICCFA University. He holds a BS in Business Management from Rutgers University and is a Rutgers Cooperative Extension Master Gardener. He is the architect of the Veteran Administration approved GI Bill Apprenticeship Training Program for cemetery care managers. As the Chief Gardener at Merendino\, he is responsible for the mowing and trimming of 2\,000 acres of cemetery property weekly in the Northeast as well as the outsourcing of 1 out of every 650 burials in the USA.
