SUMMARY:Employee Engagement & Retention in the "Side-Hustle" Era: Understanding the Shift from Work-Life Balance to Overall Wellness
DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 20\, 2024\, at 2:00 PM EDT for the next ICCFA Webinar\, Employee Engagement & Retention in the “Side-Hustle” Era: Understanding the Shift from Work-Life Balance to Overall Wellness\, with Lori Bolton\, CSE\, CXE\, head of Special Projects/People Development at the Park Lawn Corporation. \nDo you think your employees care about their work\, or are they just going through the motions?  In 2023\, US employee engagement stood at 33%. That means 2/3 of employees are not passionate about their work. It is estimated that the deficit in employee engagement costs US employers $500 billion per year. Job hiring sites like Monster and Indeed estimate that 95% of workers are looking for a new job. Additionally\, 45% of employees have side hustles to earn more money or fulfill other interests.   \nIt’s no secret that employee engagement increases retention and performance\, but how do you increase engagement? It is critical that you understand how each employee’s overall well-being is critical to your success and how this is very different from the outdated concept of work-life balance. In this webinar\, Lori will present the concept of overall employee well-being and a plan for developing an employee engagement strategy. \nLori brings over 20 years of expertise in cemetery and funeral home management\, along with a focus on technology solutions in the deathcare field. With a background at Johnson Consulting Group/J3Tech Solutions\, Catholic Management Services\, and PlotBox\, Lori now spearheads comprehensive training programs at Park Lawn Corporation. She’s a seasoned professional in customer experience\, holding two certifications and being an active member of the CXPA. Lori also contributes to the ICCFA Sales and Marketing Committee and teaches at ICCFA University. Based in California\, she enjoys spending time with her three children\, her husband John\, and mini Aussiedoodle\, Coco. \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Compassionate Care: Funeral Directors' Guide to Supporting Suicide Survivors
DESCRIPTION:Join us on July 18\, 2024\, at 2:00 PM EDT for the next ICCFA Webinar\, Compassionate Care: Funeral Directors’ Guide to Supporting Suicide Survivors\, with Marc Markell\, PhD. \nFuneral directors play an important role in supporting suicide survivors. There are 80% more suicides than homicides in our country. The 32\,000 self-inflicted deaths each year leave behind many survivors; those who were closest to the person who died by suicide are vulnerable to substance abuse and self-injury (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Suicide is a major public health concern\, much like heart disease and cancer.  \nThis webinar will focus on the definition of suicide\, relevant statistics\, reasons people die by suicide\, and what funeral directors can do to support suicide survivors.  \nMarc Markell is a professor emeritus at St. Cloud State University in the College of Education and Instructional Design. He currently teaches in Edgewood College’s Master of Thanatology program and at Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Additionally\, he teaches death education and wellness programs for various age groups at Mayflower United Church of Christ. \nHe earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Marc is a certified Professional Development Specialist\, Thanatologist\, and parent coach. He holds certifications as an End of Life Doula\, Crematory Operator\, Funeral Arranger\, and Celebrant. Marc has presented widely and has published three books on grief\, several book chapters\, and numerous articles.  \nClick Here to Register
