Funeral Director (Las Vegas, NV)

The Nevada Funeral Director is responsible for providing a source of support, guidance, and direction to families before, during and after the loss of a loved one. This position manages all phases of the funeral arrangement including the preparation of the deceased, selecting and setting up funeral services to final disposition.

Responsibilities

  • Handle arrangements with Nevada, Arizona, and California families. This generally consists of assisting twenty five (35) to thirty five (35) families per month.
  • Work within Velocify CRM to progress, update, and manage each At-Need case per Smart system.
  • Maintain proper contact with the legal next of kin or legally designated facilitator to provided updates, secure information, and ensure successful completion of AN case.
  • Confirm all decedent Statistical information with family for Death Certificate registration and enters correctly into EDRS or DAVE systems as applicable.
  • Ensures that the correct legal next of kin views, understands, and signs all necessary paperwork for cremation as required by State and Federal law.
  • Submission of Permits, Disposition docs, Cremation Authorization, and all needed cremation paperwork to the appropriate crematory.
  • Being On-Call per monthly rotating schedule of all Smart Arrangers/Funeral Directors.
  • Dispatch of appropriate Smart Transport Providers to remove decedents from place of death to the proper licensed facility.
  • Scheduling cremains delivery, arrange mailing, or scattering of cremains with appropriate Smart Provider.
  • Collecting payment from At-Need families for cash advance items and/or any balances due Smart Pre-Need plans.
  • Assist Families with online obituaries
  • Co-ordination of Trade deal cremation agreement with local mortuary when Smart Plan members pass outside our service markets.
  • Coordinating case transfer to International Transportation Agency (IEA) when necessary.
  • Meet with walk-in Families inquiring about Smart services.
  • Funeral Director is responsible for signing all required paperwork.
  • Thoroughly review and sign off on the worksheets/SFG&S prior to sending to Arrangers.
  • Order and pick up (Arizona) Death Certification.
  • Maintains a copy of all documentation pertaining to each case and ensures that the completed file is distributed to the
  • appropriate Arranger.
  • Pacemaker and deliberator removal as required.
  • Prepare and complete accurate documents related to services, cremation, maintenance, and other types of data.
  • Processes all COP forms to ensure they are completed accurately as required by state regulations
  • Ensuring that the appropriate documents are notarized into HMIS
  • Assists in the maintenance of the facilities, grounds and vehicles
  • Ensures that all federal, state and local regulations related to the funeral industry are followed
  • Prepares the memorial area for the family prior to the start of the service.
  • Always maintains reverence and respect for the deceased
  • Prepares all paperwork involving the final disposition including the collection of payment
  • for services.
  • Maintain complete documentation insuring a complete chain of custody.
  • Funeral Director is responsible for signing all required paperwork.
  • If Funeral Director is away an “Assumption of responsibility form” must be completed and
  • sent into the State Board indicating the responsible funeral director on site.

Qualifications

  • Current Nevada Funeral Directors License
  • No previous industry experience required
  • Professional communication skills
  • You may be required to be “On-Call” as part of your Funeral Director duties
  • Experience handling sensitive situations in a professional manner
  • Understanding of the services and products available
  • Knowledge of current federal, state and local regulations related to the funeral industry
